Pluto TV is a free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) service owned and operated by the Paramount Streaming division of Paramount Global. The service carried many episodes of Wheel of Fortune for free streaming from 2022-2024.
In October 2020, Pluto TV became part of the newly created ViacomCBS Streaming (renamed Paramount Streaming in February 2022), both to be led by Pluto TV CEO Tom Ryan. Following the acquisition by Paramount, the service began adding several game shows, including Wheel of Fortune, both for streaming on demand and as 24-hour channels.
Wheel of Fortune was added to the service on August 1, 2022. The first batch of episodes included 250 episodes ranging from Seasons 34-37, including 70 of the 74 episodes that were available for streaming on Netflix since February 2021. The batch included episodes from 2016 with the 2006-2016 music cues left intact (unlike syndicated reruns of said episodes from 2017-18). 221 of these episodes would later be acquired by Game Show Network in 2023.
On March 27, 2023, a new batch was added, consisting of 100 episodes ranging from Seasons 20-24 and 26-30, marking the first time since 2012 that any full episodes featuring Charlie O'Donnell were legally broadcast or released, as well as the first reruns of any episodes from the 2000's decade since 2011. The majority of these episodes retain their original closed captioning.
From August 8-11, 2023, 100 more episodes were gradually added, including 98 syndicated episodes from Seasons 1-5, 7-12, 15, and 16, plus Pat Sajak and Vanna White's respective first permanent episodes from the daytime series. This marked the first time since 2007 that anything from the daytime series (including any episode with Susan Stafford) was legally seen. These also marked the first reruns of any episodes from Seasons 3, 4, 8, 9, and 11 since their original runs in syndication, as those seasons never reran on Game Show Network. Both daytime episodes are noticeably degraded, suggesting their original master tapes are lost. As Pluto TV numbers episodes by their production number without the "S-" prefix, the two daytime episodes (production codes #1768 and #2016) are grouped with Seasons 10 and 11, respectively, as the syndicated equivalents of their numbers fell during those seasons. All of these episodes received new closed captioning.
From November 10-14, 2023, a batch of 50 episodes was gradually added exclusively through the channel, bringing the total rotation to 500. The new episodes began with 15 episodes from Seasons 27, 32-33, and 35-37, all of which originally aired on or around Thanksgiving. This was shortly followed by 35 more episodes ranging from Seasons 2-4, 7-9, 13, 18, 21, and 24, most of which were Christmas-themed. This batch was not made available on demand until January 10, 2024, two months later.
On February 22 and 23, 2024, a batch of 147 episodes was added, consisting of episodes from Seasons 1-4, 7-9, 15, 16, 18, 21-24, 26, 28, 30-34, 37, and 38. Erroneously, episodes #7186-7190 from Season 37 are titled #6621-6625 and are placed under Season 34 with numbers 34186-34190, which would be accurate with the latter production numbers. Starting with this batch, the episodes are not numbered with their original production numbers, but by an alternate numbering system using the season number followed by three digits representing the episode within that season (e.g., the Season 18 premiere is numbered 18001 rather than 3316). Because of this, all episodes from this batch are placed as the last episodes of their respective seasons due to their numbers being far greater than their production numbers, and they also air in this order on the live channel. However, most of these episodes are still titled "Episode #[production number]". On February 26, episode #3901 was added, completing the Season 21 premiere week and bringing the total for this batch to 148.
On July 31, 2024, the live channel for Wheel (along with Jeopardy!) was removed. Both shows' On Demand selections remained available until August 1 (exactly two years after they were first added to the service), at which point the Jeopardy! episodes were removed, followed by the Wheel episodes a few hours later.
Typically, the live channel aired mostly episodes from Seasons 20-38. Episodes from Seasons 1-18 were rarely shown; when they were, it was usually between the hours of 5:00 and 9:00 AM Eastern.
On most episodes, the fee plugs are edited out by transitioning from Pat and Vanna's signoff to the credits with a white flash. In episodes with SPIN ID drawings or other giveaways, most episodes leave them intact while adding a caption reading, "PREVIOUSLY BROADCAST; SWEEPSTAKES HAS ENDED". Four episodes from Season 24 are in 4:3 standard definition instead of their original 16:9 high definition, suggesting the latter masters for those episodes are lost. Season 28 episodes featuring guest announcers retain their voices, unlike Summer 2011 reruns which dubbed them over with Jim Thornton.
A few episodes have incorrect original air dates listed, including the September 29, 2017 episode from Season 35 incorrectly having its year listed as 2027.
Pluto TV offered a total of 648 episodes of Wheel of Fortune, from all seasons except for the following: 6, 14, 17, 19, 25, and 39 onward. Episodes from sponsored weeks, "Southern" themed weeks, Secret Santa episodes, and T-Mobile Tuesday episodes from Season 38 were excluded.
