The XL Wedge is one of the gameplay elements on Wheel of Fortune.
History[]
The XL Wedge debuted on September 12, 2022 to honor the show's 40th season ("XL" being the Roman numeral for 40). It is placed on the yellow $850 and functions similarly to the Million-Dollar and Home wedges. When landed on and a contestant guesses a correct consonant, they would take control of the XL Wedge & would receive whatever the Top Dollar Amount for every instance for that constant (i.e. If landed on during Round 1, correct consonant is called, that player would receive $2,500 for each instance of that letter, the same would go for $3,500 & $5,000 on their rounds respectively). If claimed and taken to the Bonus Round, it offers an additional $40,000 on top of whatever prize is won there. Unlike the Million-Dollar & Home Wedges; however, the XL Wedge would remain on the wheel rather than being picked up and placed into their bank and an XL icon would appear on the Score display (similiar on how the Wild Card is indicated with their score on their displays), which means that more than one contestant can have an XL Claimed into their bank.
Contestant Ryan Zsiga became the first contestant to win an additional $40,000 through the XL Wedge, doing so on September 14, 2022.
